    Summary:

    Though novel technologies are being developed at knowledge centres,
    farmers at individual level faces difficulties in accessing the
    information. The technical agro information needs to be provided to the
    farmers at the right time and in the right way, so that the farm
    operations could be carried out timely resulting assured yield and
    economic returns. Several terms are too technical and not easy to
    grasp in these sciences. At present, there are many comprehensive
    text books on these sciences. There is a need to use simple language
    and the present book titled “Glossary of Terms and Terminologies in
    Community, Extension and Social Sciences”suites to the specific
    needs of all students, scientists and all those who find great difficulty in
    referring to some terms used in this sciences. Thus bridging the info
    divide, extension services inhabit a strategic position in the agricultural
    technology transfer. Therefore we intended to compile this book
    ‘Glossary of Terms and Terminologies in Community, Extension and
    Social Sciences to cater the needs of agricultural graduates and
    sociologists. We collected information from a variety of sources and
    appropriate updating was carried out. We hope that the present book
    will serve as a ready reference for agricultural students as well as
    graduates preparing for competitive examinations like ASRB, UGC,
    SLET, UPSC, IRMA and students appearing for interviews. This book
    could help all the stake holders of rural development involving central
    and state Government departments, rural sociologists, non-
    governmental organizations, individual farmers, farmer cooperatives
    and extension functionaries and knowledge centre viz., State
    Agricultural Universities (SAUs), Agricultural Research Stations (ARS)
    and research and extension centres viz., KrishiVigyanKendras (KVKs)
    to take advantage of the mass media channels as well as digital
