Summary:
Most of the physiological activities and growth in plants are regulated by
the action and interaction of some chemical substances in them called as
hormones and by certain naturally occurring inhibitors e.g., phenols,
flavonols and abscisic acid. To distinguish the plant hormones from the
animal hormones they are termed as phytohormones. A physiological
disorder from a deficiency of some trace element is not difficult to correct
if we know the cause. For this reason, the diagnosis of trace element
status is useful, especially in fields which often suffer from micronutrient
deficiencies. Few reports are available on real-time diagnosis for trace
elements. A small reflecting photometer and test strips have been useful
in testing for various elements. It is likely that we shall soon establish real-
