Summary:
Insect pests cause enormous damage to the crop causing severe economic
losses. Nearly 30 to 50% of the crop yields are lost due to the ravages of
insect pests, and several insect species have the potential to cause 50 to
100% loss during outbreaks. The trends in pest status in the past few
decades clearly brought out significant shifts in several insect species across
the crops . The successful detection and control of pests in seed and other
planting material depend upon the availability of rapid, reliable, robust,
specific and sensitive methods for detection and identification of pests. The
various techniques, conventional and modern, that are employed for
detection of pests are enumerated in the present manuscript wherein which it
starts with the introduction of the subject and describes in subsequent
chapters about major crops and their insects. Cropwise pests dynamics have
been listed and important strategies to control those pests have been
thoroughly discussed. It is difficult to enumerate entire gamut of crops and
their insect pest management. However, several important crops and their
pest management practices all are part of this manuscript. The control
methods suggested are only for guidance purposes and any use arising from
the recommendations made must be first checked witht the local and
standard practices adopted for control measures.Under no way this book is
complete and before using any method of control should be thoughly
discussed and then should be adopted.Number Of Quantity:
